Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
