Individual That Touched Ariana Grande at Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted over a barricade and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was given a sentence to nine days in detention for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to Singaporean press.
Wen pushed beyond security and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was participating in the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The pop star has discussed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the UK city in spring of 2017 killed 22 individuals and injured hundreds.
In the legal process, the authorities learned he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event multiple times, according to local news sources.
He then made a follow-up try to breach security. Event security stopped him and pinned him down.
He then uploaded video clips expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "at liberty."
Police arrested him the next day and brought charges against him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.
The District Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by a news outlet as remarking that he was looking for publicity, noting that he was mistaken to assume he would not suffer any consequences.
The actress has not spoken about the incident.
Erivo spoke about the event to the press, saying that she "only aimed to verify my colleague was protected."
"I believe he had no intention to us injury, but you can't predict with these incidents, and I wanted to ensure that she was alright. That was my first instinct," she said.
