Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
