Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
