Former BBC consultants testifying before parliamentary committee

We start with queries from Conservative lawmaker Caroline Dinenage, who oversees the group.

She commences by giving context to the leaked document written by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting in any particular direction, My only wish is for it straight, impartial and equitable," he declares.

In response to a query if he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is structurally prejudiced, Prescott responds: "Absolutely not. To be clear, numerous aspects the British Broadcasting Corporation does is world class - both informative and non-factual programming."

But he adds: "There exists real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."

The second ex-adviser BBC specialist examined by the group, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the BBC with great importance and that it maintains a "persistent practice and vigorous discourse" on dynamic and complex issues.

"Did the BBC prepared to have a genuine dialogue and exchange and implement changes?" she questions. "In my view, indeed, they were."
