The Gory Animated Movie Ending That Stays With Fans

Among every mature cartoon movies I’ve ever watched, nothing has stuck with me quite like the dread-soaked finale of the explicitly bloody as well as overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker created a dark, somber and frequently brutal world that included some tiny , desolate hints of hope.

Although Unicorn Wars feels like it stemmed from a drive to advance the medium even more, the director explained that it was rather an effort to communicate a global, multicultural theme about “the mutual source of each battle.”

This theme is expressed via a squad of vividly colored bears , openly modeled after a popular series of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a culture focused on warmongering and the military-industrial complex, many of these creatures are obsessed with slaughtering the mythical beasts, thanks to a holy book which states the bears they were once rulers of the forest, until these creatures expelled them.

Others did not entirely fallen for the propaganda, , choose to experiment with narcotics or fornicate outdoors.

In contrast to their friendly equivalents, these bright beings have visible sexual organs and obvious urges.

For a certain particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, Bluey, the conflict with unicorns becomes a path to control — and specifically to dominance above his gentler, kinder brother the character Tubby.

The character is a bully , an obvious sociopath , and as horror takes over his squad and takes his fellow soldiers individually, he takes increasingly control personally, via progressively gory, destructive ways.

At the same time, the horned creatures are suffering their own nightmare, as an expanding, deadly beast in their forest.

“In the early stages, it appears as a humorous movie,” the director commented. “Yet it evolves into a more serious and sad film. And in the finale, it becomes a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars begins similar to one of the most whimsical films from a legendary filmmaker, which find a naughty glee in permitting drawn beings curse, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it evolves into closer to a bleaker work from the same artist, including ever more visual gore , a noticeable connection to the real tragedy of war.

Ultimately, it is an outright theatrical horror carnage.

The fear which makes this a perfect Halloween movie begins a lot earlier than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore fans of gore, for lovers of graphic films who wish to view a movie they have not viewed until now, and who can handle a story that pulls no restraint.

Watch it in a dark room free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow into your mind and linger.
