Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a tabletop RPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in April of 2026.
"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," states an announcement.
Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the nation into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, turning the city into a warzone. To restore law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. That’s where the players enter the story.
Work on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider market, specifically in the United States. Production is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
A preview at the system confirms it uses d10s exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic style. Players use skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.
Combat Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight
Fights stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or line of sight have a direct impact success chances. This mechanic is designed to reward coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.
A Thematic Wound Mechanic
The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits reduces their effectiveness by lowering the number of d10s.
- At critical condition, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
- They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in video game shooters.
- Any player in this state must roll on a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.
An Introductory Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide is promised in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the campaign launch.
