A budget proposal that would conclude the record-setting federal closure in the nation's history is advancing toward the House of Representatives for a decisive ballot on Wednesday.

On the sixth week of the budget deadlock, representatives are returning to Washington to decide whether to endorse a legislative agreement that would finance federal agencies for two months.

GOP leaders voiced optimism the budget proposal would be approved by the lower chamber, notwithstanding their tight margin. But leading opposition members promised to vote against it.

"We're reopening our nation," he announced on the previous day at a Veterans Day event in the Virginia suburb. "Should have never been closed."

The chamber is scheduled to reassemble at 4 PM Eastern (21:00 GMT) to have a brief deliberation period on the bill before a vote.

Minority Position

Opposition chief the minority leader of the Empire State vowed to fight the bill.

"We're strongly opposed as House Democrats to this reckless Republican effort to keep elevating the high cost of living on ordinary citizens," he told CNN.

The minority representative has voiced disappointment with the upper chamber minority who sided with the majority party on the night before to endorse the funding measure.

A key condition of Democrats during the closure has been that the majority add to the budget legislation a clause to extend government subsidies that make health insurance less expensive for a significant population.

The Speaker has maintained congressional recess for 53 days to apply stress to the upper chamber minority to agree a shutdown compromise.

Before Wednesday's vote he will swear in Arizona congresswoman-elect the Democratic candidate, a minority party representative who gained office in a vacancy vote in the previous month.
